2023

After taking several months off due to pregnancy, I’m glad to be back in the game for 2023. Feeling more passionate than ever these days, I’m ready to capture some beautiful moments in the world’s best sport. Most recently I shot the Home Opener for Phoenix Rising FC on April 1, 2023 (which also happens to be my 6th wedding anniversary). It was my first game back shooting in several months and 2 months postpartum, and let me tell you it took me 2 days to recover. I did not even move around the stadium that much since I had my baby with me field-side. Whew, from squatting/kneeling behind the field boards, constantly checking in on my little one, and watching out for any oncoming balls, this momma was exhausted!! But I loved every minute of it. I plan to shoot as many Rising games as possible and will have availability for other freelance as well.

Thanks for reading.

2.12.22 phx vs. skc

Preseason for Phoenix Rising has started off with 1 L and 1 W. Preseason for home photographers started off….sunny. Shooting under a clear blue sky and beaming rays of sunshine poses its own challenges to the folks on the sidelines….especially the east side. Shooting into the sun can be rewarding though. As a rookie in this art, I found myself adjusting settings, which I rarely do when shooting at night.

The majority of the starters and familiar faces started the first half. It was nice to be back and see the familiar faces on the sideline as well. No fans allowed today, so the sounds from the pitch were audible by all. The grass looked great…the desert could be felt….field boards up….all the signs that “football is back in Phoenix.” The halves felt longer; probably feeding off the longing we have all had for 2022. A new Another start. Hopefully to become a “post-pandemic year.” The teams switched out several players. Giving the trialists a chance to fight for spot. Phoenix started to look a little more alive, or maybe it was just me becoming more comfortable and settling into my gear.

The game ended 2-1 in favor of the home team. There was a PK, there was some bickering, there was me forgetting my monopod attachment so I had to freehold my camera. Hey, we all gotta get match-fit right?
